Parent Villages
The power of parents to build a better future for their children.
Host a PARENT VILLAGE
Parent Villages bring together small groups of parents, caregivers and allies, in community, to envision and shape a society that supports them so that all children succeed.
The PARENT VILLAGE Toolkit
The host toolkit — available in English and Spanish — provides all the materials to successfully host a Parent Village, in person or virtually. All downloads are free and can be co-branded.
Big Shift Tool
An engaging activity for parents to state their needs, reflect on how those needs are met and cast a vision of a society where parents are truly supported. Parents are prompted to list their most pressing needs (“affordable childcare,” “a flexible schedule,” for example) and measure how many of those needs fall to the individual, in comparison to how many are supported by society and our institutions.
Book Club Discussion Guide
This discussion guide offers a chapter-by-chapter summary of the stories, science and ideas woven throughout the pages of PARENT NATION, with questions designed to help readers reflect on their own lived experiences. Each chapter summary is followed by a list of questions and discussion points, which can be used by individuals, small groups, large book clubs or organizations hosting community reads.
Action Guide
A list of steps you can take to help build a PARENT NATION. Parents are a beautifully diverse group, and this guide accounts for varying degrees of time, resources and comfort in the spotlight—from sharing a post on social media to championing parents in your workplace. Together, parents and stakeholders can become change agents to ensure all families receive the systemic support they need.
